My radio show’s not on this week.. got a newsweek which means 9-5 everyday in uni, so Breakout is back with a vengeance from next monday!

A nice little film about how two of my friends started making music together. You can hear more of them at http://www.myspace.com/johncandyband or buy their debut album Conversations digitally or on vinyl here http://allaboardrecords.bandcamp.com/album/john-candy-conversations-lp .

ridiculous song, guaranteed to make you smile.

It’ s an exciting year for hip-hop this year.. there’s 4 key albums to look out for - Nas & Damian Marleys collaboration album is coming in April and there playing an album release show at Electric Ballroom next Wednesday. Other albums to drop are Talib Kweli & Hi Tek in May and Drake’s Thank Me Later coming this summer. Finally, i think its going to be a huge year for Jay Electronica; his huge and soulful Exhibit C track has gone down very well with the likes of Zane Lowe and even Thom Yorke put the track in his monthly playlist on his blog.. Jay has said his album will be out this year and he has plans to work with Nas and Lupe Fiasco. I cant stop playing his Victory mixtape, he’s got real good flow and knows how to pick a killer sample.. get it here http://www.sendspace.com/file/rpkjb7

Dubstep duo Tek One are giving away a real nice mixtape.. its as varied a mixtape as your gunna get. It features their bmth remix alongside garage remakes from mj cole, some vibey drum&bass from noisia, dubstep bangers like caspas latest ludacris remix.. before finishing off with the very chilled d-bridge & instra:mental tracks and a hiphop classic from wu-tang. Well worth a listen if you like bass orientated music.. still really wanna see these guys live cos they play with a live drummer and seem pretty different to alot of generic dubstep around. Get yellow cake mixtape at http://www.mediafire.com/?1mjnmmvqzmd .

This is the first single from Canterbury since they gave away their well received album Thankyou for free. The video seems really simple but it works and it cost them a whopping p.diddy like budget of £25.. can’t get the track out of my head and just seems to fit with the spring vibe to me. Thankyou their debut album is still available for free at http://www.canterburythankyou.com/ and i might upload some of the interview i did with them on their Billy Talent tour soon.

Here’s pt dos of the Scroobius Pip interview.. make sure you check the acapella he did for me below too.

A lot of people seem to avoid UK hip-hop and i don’t know why.. there is a lot of good stuff coming from the US and we have are own urban genres here but there definitely is good UK hip-hop. One of the best for me is East London’s Klashnekoff.. His new album Return to The saga’s is due out April 12th with a mixtape dropping in the next week or so.. you can stream 2 minute clips of his whole new album on the player above.. stand out tracks for me so far are paper up & shine on. For a full version of paper up go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqxpZQTUWJM .. peaace.

This is a music blog but i thought this needed mentioning. This weekend i went to see the mysteriously under publicized Banksy production Exit Through The Gift Shop. It was one of my favourite things i’ve seen in cinema. I was fully compelled all the way through; as well as seeing some of the best street artists in the world at work for the first time the film made me laugh throughout. Fully recommend. for the list of cinemas you can see it at click the image above or go to www.banksyfilm.com

Brand new Deftones track, return to form.. get this free roller from their forthcoming album diamond eyes (15.05.10) at www.deftones.com .

New foals Spanish Sahara - a suprisingly slow and epic return to the normally frenetic and off beat band. This is a taster for the forthcoming album with an intriguing and visually crisp video. Check out there amazing new site www.foals.co.uk if you can work out how to get onto it..
